Our Story: From Tubie to Tickle Me Tubies
The Owner & the Inspiration:
Tickle Me Tubies is operated solely by one person, and that’s me: Laura! I am a tubie (person with a feeding tube) myself, and have been one for a little over 2 years. After I had my first surgical feeding tube placed (a GJ tube), I quickly got fed up with all of the irritation and pain the gauze dressings were causing me. I started to look into other options. One night about 2 weeks after the surgery I was so done with the gauze that I decided to at least try making my own tubie pad from fabric. When I finally put it on I was amazed at how comfortable it was. I was hooked! I have been using my tubie pads ever since, and it has been such a joy to get to share my pads and other handmade items with all of you.
The Beginning of the Business:
I started out slow, just making tubie pads for myself. Then for a few friends. And then I saw the demand for a high-quality, affordable cost tubie pad. In September of 2015, Tickle Me Tubies was born. Since the day the shop opened on Etsy, we have been surprised and blessed by the growth of Tickle Me Tubies. We’ve expanded our product line to include tubie pads, our own inventions, the Tubie ClipTM and Tubie Grip ClipTM, and gift baskets. We are so excited to also bring the comfort, function, and character of all of our products to our fellow tubies, spoonies, and everyone alike through our new clothing line! We can’t wait to continue to help you Put the ME in Medical with each of our handmade products.
